Dua when leaving home
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ
Transliteration
Bismillah; Tawakkaltu alal'lah; Wa la-hawla wa laqoo-ata illa billah.
What to do
Keep it simple
Before Miqat
- If travelling directly toward Makkah, put on the Ihram garments before reaching Miqat. You may do this at home, your departure airport or a transit airport.
- If travelling to Madinah first, remain in normal clothing until you later travel toward Makkah and reach the Miqat at Dhu'l-Hulayfah.
- Do not use perfume or scented products after entering Ihram.
Make Niyyah, then begin Talbiyah
- Make the intention for Umrah before crossing Miqat.
- After the Niyyah, begin reciting the Talbiyah.
- Men recite Talbiyah audibly; women recite quietly.
- Continue Talbiyah throughout the journey until you reach Masjid Al-Haram.
Important
Do not delay the Niyyah until after crossing Miqat. Once you have entered Ihram, observe the Ihram restrictions.

اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى، وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى، اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ، وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ، وَكَآبَةِ الْمَنْظَرِ، وَسُوءِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالْأَهْلِ
Transliteration
Allaahu akbar; Allaahu akbar; Allaahu akbar; Subhanal'ladhi sakh'kha ra'lana hadha wama kunna lahoo muk-ree'neen; Wa inna ela rabbina la'mun qaali'boon. Allaahumma innaa nas'aluka fee safa'reenaa ha-dhal bir'ra wat-taqwaa; Wa minal-amali maa tar-daa; Allaahumma haw'win alay-naa safa'ranaa haa-dha waṭ'wee annaa bu'dah; Allaahumma antas saa-hibu fis-safar; Wal-khalee'fatu fil-ahl; Allaahumma innee a'udhu-bike min wah'saa iss-safar; Wa kaaba'til manzar; Wa soo'il mun'qalabi fil-maali wal-ahl.
Niyyah for Umrah
لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ عُمْرَةً
Transliteration
Labba-ye'ka Allah hummah bil Umrah.
Talbiyah
لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ، إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكُ، لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ
Transliteration
Labbayk Allaahumma labbayk; Labbayka laa shareeka laka labbayk; In'nal-hamda; Wan-ni'mata; Laka wal mulk; Laa sharee ka'lak.
