What to do

Keep it simple

Begin Tawaf

  • Start in line with Hajar Al-Aswad, the Black Stone.
  • Raise your right hand toward the Black Stone and recite the phrase below.
  • Do not push or hurt anyone trying to reach or kiss the Black Stone.

Complete seven rounds

  • Men keep the upper Ihram cloth under the right armpit and over the left shoulder during Tawaf.
  • Men perform Raml, a brisk walk, during the first three rounds if able. Women walk normally.
  • For the final four rounds, everyone walks normally.
  • Between the Yamani corner and the Black Stone, recite the Dua shown below.

Your Dua during Tawaf

There is no fixed Dua for every round. Make Dua, recite Qur'an and Istighfar, and ask Allah for what you need in any language.

If your Wudu breaks

Renew your Wudu. Keep count of the rounds already completed, then continue the remaining rounds from the Black Stone.
